This article rings so true! Nice.

It also reminds me that memory is often linked to identity. The motto of Quebec is "Je me souviens" (I remember).

As a memoir reader, writer, editor and instructor, this all rings beautifully true. Memory forever captured on a page is deeply meaningful to us humans whether or not we ever share it.

Linda Myers, that is one beautiful piece. I enjoyed reading every word it touched my heart deeply. You can tell it came from the heart, which is one that is locked away in a safe place. Thank you for writing this wonderful Pizz.

Slippage! What a perfect word for what happens. We try to put the memory back once it has slipped out, but to no avail. Something new has begun at that point. A brilliant insight.

Linda Joy, Every time I start having doubts about the memoir I'm working on, thinking no one will care, a post from you arrives, reminding me that our stories are important. They are important to the writer, yes, and also to readers, because our stories carry universal themes. We see, acknowledge, and understand ourselves a little better with each one we read. And we know that no one of us is an island. Thank you.

Love this! Especially love the metaphors of the vertical time chute and the memory pouch. Such strong ways to describe what it’s like holding onto and traveling through our memories!
