Yes, I find this to be so true. Sometimes I anticipate what I will write about before I go somewhere, yet the truly interesting stories about a place don’t emerge until (much) later and they always surprise me.
I enjoyed your reflections on Portugal! I'm actually going there for the first time two weeks from now. We're embarking on a cruise from Lisbon for 10 days and then returning to spend 3 days back in Lisbon and another 3 in Porto. Your post has me looking forward to it even more now!
